Services of Worship

     Sunday

There are normally three services each Sunday:

8:00 a.m.  A service of Holy Communion, using the old Book of Common Prayer on the first and fourth Sundays of each month and the New Zealand Prayer Book on all other Sundays.  This is a quiet service with a sermon but no hymns.  Approximate duration: 45 minutes.

10:00 a.m.  The main service of the day.  The New Zealand Prayer Book is used on most Sundays.  On the third Sunday of each month an All Age Eucharist is held; this is a less formal service attended by parishioners of all ages.  (There is no Sunday School on third Sundays.)  The Parish Choir sings at all services except the All Age Eucharist.  Approximate duration: 75 minutes.

Everyone is welcome to stay for tea, coffee and fellowship after the 10:00 service.

7:00 p.m.  There are several different types of service at 7:00.  Most commonly an informal Evening Worship or Bible Study is held in
the Kataluma (the new lounge) adjacent to the church.  Traditional Choral Evensong, with the Choir, takes place in the church on (usually) the third Sunday of each month.  A Contemplative Eucharist is generally held on the first Sunday of the month.  This service may take place in either the Kataluma or the church.  On fifth Sundays there may be no service.

Approximate duration: 60 minutes.  There is generally no 7:00 p.m. service on holiday weekends; please see the Calendar and Noticeboard page to confirm the type of service on any particular date.

Between Christmas and the end of January there will be no evening service, but there will still be services of Holy Communion at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m.

     Wednesday

10:00 a.m.  The Wednesday service of Holy Communion uses the old Book of Common Prayer. This is a short service held in the Parish Lounge and followed by morning tea.  Approximate duration: 30 minutes.

There are additional services at certain times of the year.  To check our schedule for the next few weeks, please see the Calendar and Noticeboard page.
